Trumbull County Reads 2024 to Feature Food and Family Themes during October

(09/24/2024) – The community is invited to be part of Trumbull County Reads 2024 this October as local libraries explore how cultures and communities are connected by the traditions, the innovations, and the stories shared through food.

Trumbull County Reads is the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library’s annual initiative that encourages everyone to celebrate reading through conversations and events related to a central book or topic. The featured book for Trumbull County Reads 2024 is “Yes, Chef: A Memoir” by Marcus Samuelsson with Veronica Chambers. The book chronicles Samuelsson’s journey from his grandmother’s kitchen to becoming an acclaimed chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and philanthropist.

A variety of book discussions, cooking demonstrations, and more learning experiences related to the food and family themes found in the featured book will take place at libraries during October. In addition, individuals and families can log their reading and themed activities in a Trumbull County Reads challenge through the online platform Beanstack.

The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is collecting recipes between Oct. 1 – 30, 2024, for a special Trumbull County Reads collection. Recipes may be submitted on a paper form at any Warren-Trumbull County Public Library location, including the Bookmobile, or through a form on the library website.

“Yes, Chef: A Memoir” is available to borrow from the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library in print and as a downloadable eBook or eAudiobook through the free Libby app.

Free copies of the Trumbull County Reads Event Guide are available at the libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown, and Warren. Program events can also be viewed on the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library’s website calendar at www.WTCPL.org.
