Warren-Trumbull County Public Library Launches Redesigned Trumbull Memory Project Site

(07/09/2024) – The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library announces the launch of an updated and redesigned Trumbull Memory Project, its online site of historic images and documents.

The Trumbull Memory Project site can be directly accessed online at www.trumbullmemory.org. A link to the site can also be found on the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library website.

The Trumbull Memory Project celebrates the industries, schools, landmarks, and families of Trumbull County, Ohio, from the early 1800s to the present day. Special collections include the Tornado Memory Project, the Dana’s Musical Institute collection, and Trumbull County Veterans of World War II collection.

The Trumbull Memory Project has grown to nearly 3,000 items since it was created by the library system’s Information Technology Department and Local History & Genealogy Center staff in 2012.

Library staff worked with TIND Digital Archive to develop the enhanced Trumbull Memory Project. In addition to an updated look, the new site is more user-friendly, allowing for easier searches. The platform offers increased storage to be able to expand the collection and also has the capability to add more types of content such as audio and video recordings.

The site layout is similar to a library catalog. Keywords such as location, subject, year, or name can be entered in the Trumbull Memory Project “Search” bar to find images and related information. Historic photos and documents can also be discovered by browsing the collection content for more focused searches.

The Local History & Genealogy Center welcomes materials that can aid people in their research, enhance understanding of the past, and further access to Trumbull County history. The Center collects Bible records, family histories, ancestral charts, military information, and photographs or documents of historic interest to Trumbull County. Anyone interested in donating or lending materials to the Local History & Genealogy Center for digital preservation may call the Center at (330) 399-8807 ext. 202. The Center is located in the Warren Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW in Warren.

The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library system includes libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown, and Warren; a Bookmobile; and Library-By-Mail service. For more information about all library services, visit www.wtcpl.org.
