July 23 Groundbreaking Event Marks Start of Howland Library Expansion Project

(07/13/2026) – Community leaders, residents, and project partners will gather at 10 a.m. on Thurs., July 23, at the Howland Branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 9095 East Market St., to celebrate the groundbreaking for the library’s expansion and renovation project.

The ceremony marks the start of construction on the project that will provide expanded recreational, educational, and gathering space for residents of all ages by adding 1,400 square feet onto the Howland Library building, renovating the interior, and making critical infrastructure updates.

Guided tours of planned changes to the library will be available during the groundbreaking event, and guests may enjoy light refreshments.

The library is working with United Contractors Inc., of Brookfield, as the project’s general contractor and with Baker Bednar Snyder & Associates, of Warren, for architectural services.

To accommodate construction activities during the second phase of the project, the Howland Library will be closed to the public beginning Sept. 8 and continuing throughout the duration of construction. Project completion and library reopening is anticipated in March 2027.
