A representative from Direction Home of Eastern Ohio will talk about how to become an ombudsman volunteer. Ombudsman volunteers are the eyes and ears in long-term care facilities and provide a voice for long-term care residents. Volunteers visit consumers in nursing homes and assisted living facilities to observe conditions and care, inform residents about their rights, and handle any complaints residents may have. Free.

In partnership with the City of Cortland and the Friends of the Cortland Library, the Cortland Library will hold a free document shredding event for city residents. This event is for Cortland residents only, and documents from businesses and commercial properties will not be permitted. Residents may bring the equivalent of up to four medium-sized boxes (18”x12”x15”) filled with paper for shredding on-site at no charge. Shredding will be by Protect-N-Shred. Free.
