Learn about the history of Barbie at this program for adults! Since 1959—when career-woman and Barbie's mother, Ruth Handler, took on the engineers at Mattel (who told her that little girls wanted to play with baby dolls, not grown-up lady dolls)—up to the present, Barbie has been 10 steps ahead of the game. Barbie owned her own dream house and car, when real women needed fathers or husbands to co-sign their loans, and she went to the moon before the astronauts did. Registration is optional for this program; to sign up, call the Reference Department at the Warren Library at (330) 399-8807 ext. 200 or email REF@WTCPL.ORG. Free.
