Community is Invited to Eclipse Viewing Celebration April 8 in Warren

(02/22/2024) – The Warren Library along with other community partners is sponsoring an Eclipse Viewing Celebration beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Mon., April 8, at Warren G. Harding High School’s Mollenkopf Stadium, 860 Elm Rd. NE in Warren.

On April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, placing Warren and Trumbull County into darkness for several minutes as the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. The total eclipse phase is expected locally between 3:08 and 3:19 p.m. in Ohio.

The Viewing Celebration will include activities for all ages leading up to the total eclipse. Admission is free.

Celebration attendees are urged to bring their own solar eclipse viewing glasses as they will not be available for distribution or purchase at the event.

The Warren Library has a limited supply of solar eclipse viewing glasses that will be distributed free of charge while supplies last to anyone who presents their valid Warren-Trumbull County Public Library (W-TCPL) card. Patrons may stop by the designated distribution area in the parking lot of the library, located at 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, on April 8 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and present their W-TCPL library card. The glasses will be available on a first-come-first-served basis and will be limited to one pair per cardholder. Patrons must be present at the pick-up distribution event with their library card in order to receive a pair of the viewing glasses.

For additional information and more eclipse-related activities, visit the W-TCPL website at www.WTCPL.org.
