Celebrating Stories and Family Fun at Family Book Day on April 5

(03/05/2025) – The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library’s Family Book Day event on Sat., April 5, will feature a magic story artist, a puppet show, the opportunity to meet Katerina Kittycat, and more free activities for all ages between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Warren Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW in Warren.

Family Book Day is an annual celebration of stories and family fun! This year’s Family Book Day theme is Fluffy Tails and Magic Trails, and kids and their grownups will delight in a variety of entertaining and engaging activities throughout the day.

Prepare to be amazed, dazzled, and bewildered at 12:30 p.m. with a Magic Storytelling Show by Yasu Ishida, Magic Story Artist! This exciting show makes stories come alive visually through Story-gami, Kamishibai (“Paper Theatre”), and magic tricks. At the end of the show, kids will learn origami.

Meet Katerina Kittycat from DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD, presented by your local PBS station, PBS Western Reserve, at 1:30 p.m. and also at 2:30 p.m. in the library. Katerina lives in the treehouse in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe with her mom, Henrietta Pussycat. A caring friend to all the Neighborhood children, Katerina wants everyone to have fun.

The library’s Youth Services team of puppeteers will present an entertaining puppet show at 2 p.m. that little ones will especially enjoy!

Visit with Bunnies in Baskets between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. courtesy of F5RS (Frisky Ferrets, Fuzzies, and Feathered Friends Rescue and Sanctuary).

A variety of craft activities, games, and gaming will be taking place between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for children and teens. Each child and teen ages 0 – 18 who attends Family Book Day can receive one free new book to keep.

Admission for Family Book Day is free.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase between 11 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. from The Little Red Food Truck and between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. from Traveler’s Coffee Company.
