Borrowing from OhioLINK and SearchOhio will be temporarily suspended during system upgrade this summer

(05/14/2025) – Last year, Ohio libraries shared more than 6 million items with each other, thanks to a system that connects 86 college libraries (known as OhioLINK) and 45 public libraries (known as SearchOhio). A major upgrade to this lending system will take place this summer. The new technology will integrate OhioLINK and SearchOhio’s existing platforms to improve operational efficiencies and library collaboration.

Migration to the new system will impact Warren-Trumbull County Public Library (W-TCPL) cardholders’ ability to borrow or renew items from the OhioLINK and SearchOhio collections.

Key dates to note are
• May 23 through October 2025 – W-TCPL Cardholders will not be able to borrow or renew items from OhioLINK collections.
• August 1 through October 2025 – W-TCPL Cardholders will not be able to borrow or renew items from SearchOhio. (Items may continue to be returned as usual.)

During this SearchOhio and OhioLINK downtime, W-TCPL customers can continue to search the W-TCPL catalog to request and borrow items from other libraries in the W-TCPL system for pickup at their home library. Cardholders may also request to borrow some items through the Interlibrary Loan Service.

The W-TCPL’s Digital Library of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and other digital and downloadable materials will also be available.

Once complete, the new SearchOhio and OhioLINK platform will offer an enhanced and more efficient experience for W-TCPL cardholders. A simplified, modern user interface will make it easier for patrons to discover library resources and explore new content.

The W-TCPL system includes libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown, and Warren; a Bookmobile; Library-By-Mail service, and a 24/7 website at www.wtcpl.org.
