Bike FIXIT Station Added Outside the Warren Library
(05/03/2021) – Thanks to a grant from Trumbull County Creating Healthy Communities, a new Bike FIXIT Station has been added to the downtown area at the Warren Library.
The FIXIT Station, located on the Mahoning Avenue side of the library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, includes all the tools necessary to perform basic bike repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat tire to adjusting brakes.
“We are very pleased that Creating Healthy Communities supported the library location for this installation,” said Library Director Jim Wilkins. “The library invested in a cement pad for the station as well as an additional bicycle rack. We have a number of library customers who cycle to this downtown library or use the Western Reserve Greenway Bike Trail, and we’re happy to support their healthy lifestyle.”
The tools are securely attached to the stand with stainless steel cables and tamper-resistant fasteners.
Hanging the bike from the station’s arms allows the pedals and wheels to spin freely while adjustments are made to the bicycle, wheels, or tires. An Air Kit bike pump is also available to keep tires topped off.
The Bike FIXIT Station is free to use.
Kris Kriebel, Trumbull County Creating Healthy Communities program coordinator, said, “Creating Healthy Communities is pleased to provide a Bike FIXIT Station and air pump to support and encourage residents to ride their bikes. These stations will help to inspire residents to use their bicycles as another means of transportation and live a healthy and active lifestyle.”
May is National Bike Month.
