Adventure Begins at Your Library with free Summer Challenge

(05/17/2024) – The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library’s annual summer reading program has a fun new format this year, with activities designed to encourage reading and community exploration.

Children, teens, and adults can all participate in the Summer Challenge May 28 – July 27 at the libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown, and Warren, on the Bookmobile, and through Beanstack, a convenient online option.

Featuring a theme of “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” the Summer Challenge invites the community to embark on a summer of wonder and new discoveries. Entertaining and enriching activities are listed in four categories: Read, Discover, Visit, and Explore. Participants can choose from activities such as “Read a Western” or “Discover the delight of creating an adventure playlist or booklist” or “Visit a museum” or “Explore the water by going swimming or fishing.” Each activity is assigned a point value, and a variety of options make it easy to reach set prize levels on the way to earning 100 points and completing the Summer Challenge.

Prizes include a water bottle, vinyl stickers, and restaurant or activity coupons (all prizes while supplies last). At Challenge completion, each participant can receive an entry ticket for a chance to win one of the Grand Prize Gift Baskets.

The Tadpole Club is a summer reading program specially for babies and toddlers up to age 3. Parents and caregivers can share literacy-based activities with their little one for a prize.

To participate in the Summer Challenge online, create a free account at WTCPL.BEANSTACK.ORG or download the free Beanstack Tracker app. To log reading and activities using a paper log, visit any Warren-Trumbull County Public Library location or the Bookmobile to pick up a Summer Challenge form.
