Summer Challenge

May 28 – July 27, 2024

Children, teens, and adults can all participate in the library’s FREE Summer Challenge at W-TCPL locations, on the Bookmobile, and through Beanstack, our online option.

This year’s theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” and a variety of special events throughout the summer will lead participants on a summer of wonder and new discoveries!

About the Challenge

The W-TCPL’s annual summer reading program has a fun new format this year! The Summer Challenge features activities designed to encourage reading and community exploration as participants earn points and prizes.

The Summer Challenge includes a variety of entertaining and enriching activities in four categories: Read, Discover, Visit, and Explore. Participants can choose from activities such as “Read a Western” or “Discover the delight of creating an adventure playlist or booklist” or “Visit a museum” or “Explore the water by going swimming or fishing.”

Each activity is assigned a point value, and lots of options make it easy to reach set prize levels on the way to earning 100 points and completing the Summer Challenge!

How To Participate:

Children ages 3 and older, teens, and adults can all participate in the Summer Challenge using a paper log or through Beanstack, a convenient online option.

1. Printed Summer Challenge Log

To participate using a paper Summer Challenge log, simply stop by a W-TCPL location or visit the Bookmobile to pick up a log. As you reach each point level in the Challenge, stop back in the library to receive your prize!

2. Online through Beanstack

Beanstack offers a convenient option for participating in the Summer Challenge online.

Simply visit WTCPL.BEANSTACK.ORG to get started or download the free Beanstack Tracker app. It is free to create a personal account in Beanstack to record reading activities, track progress, and even earn digital badges along the way. Then, just stop in at any W-TCPL location to collect your prizes!

Prizes

The Summer Challenge has 4 levels. Once you earn 25 points in each level, you can stop in to any W-TCPL location to receive your prize for that level. After you have completed all 4 levels and earned 100 points – you have completed the Summer Challenge!

Prizes include a W-TCPL water bottle, vinyl stickers, and restaurant or activity coupons (while supplies last). At Challenge completion, each participant can receive an entry ticket for a chance to win one of the Grand Prize Gift baskets!

For Babies and Toddlers

The Tadpole Club is a Summer Reading Program specially for younger children up to age 3. Parents and caregivers can share literacy-based activities with little ones for a prize!

Pick up a Tadpole Club reading activity log at a W-TCPL location or, for the online option, visit WTCPL.BEANSTACK.ORG.
